Production Manager

The Production Manager shall be the primary point of contact regarding all current, future, and past productions produced by the organization. They will be responsible for ensuring that shows and events run smoothly and stay within the organization’s abilities and limits for each production. Their skills should include negotiation skills, managing experience, structured perspective, and collaborative energy.

The full list of expectations include:

  • Attending & facilitating all production meetings for BlueJay productions
  • Acting as the point of contact for the Emerson Technical Theatre community
  • Assist in the recruiting, hiring, and managing of all technical talent for all shows.
  • Oversee the creation of the production season of BlueJay, including (but not limited to): rehearsals, tech, load-in, performances, and strike.
  • Book and secure spaces and venues for all aspects of productions, as well as for organization-related activities (readings, workshops, other events, etc.).
  • Work with the Executive Board in regard to all technical aspects, including advising them of possible technical challenges or issues.
  • Oversee the budgeting and scheduling of all productions, and work with the Treasurer(s) and Managing Director(s) to create the ABR each year.
  • Assist in managing all ticketing and sales operations in association with the Treasurer and the Managing Director for all performances, including creating a post-production report based on sales and box office analytics.
  • Track Board attendance at all production-related events, including (but not limited to): Strike, Load-in, Box Office, and Run Crew.
  • Develop and enforce Designer and Technician contracts in association with the Company Manager, including educating signers on the contents and the responsibilities entailed within the contracts.
  • Serve as the liaison between the Office of the Arts and BlueJay Theater Collective.
