BlueJay Theater Collective firmly and proudly stands with the students, faculty, and members of the community that were brutally arrested the morning of April 25th while they were peacefully protesting. We condemn the violent acts of the Boston Police Department and the lack of support from the Emerson College administration. We are, however, extremely proud of our student community who are using their voices to advocate for liberation from the undergoing genocide in Palestine, and BlueJay supports the call for a permanent and immediate ceasefire.
BlueJay considers the audiences we perform for and the communities we reside in as part of the BlueJay Family, and we urge everyone to support each other throughout this time. Resources on campus are available for students who feel compelled to use them, including crisis and grief counselors. Please check your student email for more information on this.
We as an organization would like to reiterate our commitment to reflecting on and depicting honest stories that will impact the audience beyond the world of theater, as well as creating an inclusive, accepting, and collaborative work environment. We would like to pledge our commitment for our BlueJay Family of Emerson students and their right to peaceful protest.
We urge members of the Emerson and Boston community to continue to follow Students for Justice in Palestine and Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine for updates on ways you can help and show your support during this time.
